Gratitude Bullet Journals are short but sweet
A gratitude bullet journal is a powerful tool for positivity and mindfulness that requires less time.
In a gratitude journal you keep track of things that make you feel thankful. They can be big things, like a holiday or the excitement of meeting someone new. They can also be little things, like a fabulous lunch or a sunny day.
The act of writing down these grateful moments does two main things:
- Increases Positivity: When you focus on the positive, you train your brain to look for the good things in life. Over time, you start feeling more happy and less stressed because you’re concentrating on what’s going well rather than what’s going wrong.
- Boosts Mindfulness: Writing helps you slow down and pay attention to the good things happening in the present moment. You’re peaceful and relaxed, appreciating what you have right now, instead of worrying about the future or the past.
What kind of gratitude bullet journal is best for you?
Designing journal pages is a fun and creative process. The aim is to find the style of journal that motivates you to write and makes you feel grateful when journaling.
Here are a few types of gratitude bullet journals:
- List Style: This is the simplest. Every day you write one or a few things you’re grateful for in a list format. It’s a straightforward way to record your thoughts without spending time on design.
- Box Style: Draw little boxes for each day of the month. Then each day write your gratitude note inside its corresponding box. This is a neat and organized way to view your entire month at a glance.
- Prompt Style: You can write a prompt at the top of each page (like “My favorite…”) and then list your gratitude points beneath it. The prompt can guide your thoughts and make it easier to write. (See our Appreciation Awareness Gratitude Journal.)
- Doodle Style: If you love to draw, this style is for you. Doodle around the page and incorporate your gratitude notes within your art. This is a creative and fun way to express your thoughts.
- Quote Style: Use inspiring quotes that make you think. The quote is a reminder of why you’re keeping a gratitude log.
- Themed Pages: You can create themes for each month or week that guide your lists. For instance, one week’s theme could be ‘People I’m Grateful For’ and another week could be ‘Places That Make Me Happy’. Or you could change the theme by seasons to encourage mindfulness.
- Collage Style: Add photos, stickers, magazine cutouts, or any other visuals that represent what you are grateful for. This makes your journal more colorful and interactive. A picture is worth a thousand words!
Remember, there’s no ‘right’ way to design your gratitude bullet journal. The best design is one you enjoy and encourages you to express your gratitude regularly. So have fun with it, and make it your own!
