Perfect Makeup Tutorial – the Indepth Overview
In order to use the perfect makeup tutorial you need to know your face shape.
If you need help with this, there is a quiz at TheHairStyler.com that features photos to make it easy to determine which of the 6 face shapes is yours.
Perfect Makeup Routine in 9 Simple Steps
Step 1: Eyebrows
To learn how to perfectly shape our eyebrows we turn to the pro who knows, Bobbe Joy – the Brow Resuscitator – one of the top makeup artists to the stars in LA.
If you’re over 40 be very careful plucking your eyebrows. Sometime after that age they don’t grow back!
Step 2: Moisturizing & Concealer
The scientists at the Good Housekeeping Research Institute rigorously tested more than four hundred beauty products and conducted more than five thousand lab tests over the course of two years to find the anti-aging products that really work. They published their findings in 7 Years Younger: The Revolutionary 7-Week Anti-Aging Plan and while on the Doctor Oz they show shared a few tips.Every morning and after your nightly AHA cleansing, be sure to apply a skin moisturizer containing ceramides. Ceramides are a type of fat that helps your skin keep moisture in and irritants out. Simply apply a dime-sized amount, and spread over your entire face, morning and night, for maximum moisture.
How to Apply Concealer
Wayne Goss is a renown international makeup artist and one of my favorite beauty Vloggers. I love how he teaches the makeup techniques by applying it to himself. It more closely resembles how you do it at home than watching them use a model in my humble opinion.
Here he shows not one but FIVE ways to apply concealer so you can choose the one that works best for you.
Step 3: Foundation & Contouring
How to Apply Foundation
Wayne Goss has an amazing foundation tip that is the opposite to what you’ve probably been taught, but it makes your make up last all day long & you use less. Give it a try!

In the chart above there is a quick reference to show you where to apply the light and dark contouring on your face. Here is Wayne Goss to show you how to use the same contouring principles Kim Kardashian uses for her perfect makeup.
The secret is to blend, blend, blend.
If you have redness like I do – thanks to my Finlander heritage – try Wayne Goss’ Reverse Contouring. It’s amazing how it covers the red!
Step 4: Blush
I know that the blush information above tells you to find the apple of the cheek and apply blush there – which is great if you are under the age of 30.
But if you’re over the age of 30 like me, you’ve probably discovered that everything isn’t quite as firm as it once once and when you smile the apple of the cheek is up but when you’re not smiling the apple of the cheek goes south. Wayne Goss has a solution for that and shows us how to apply blush so that it actually lifts our face.
Step 5: Eyes
In the chart above it shows you how to apply eyeshadow according to your eye shape, but how do you know which eye shape you really have?
Wayne Goss to the rescue! He explains in detail how to know your eye shape and explains how to apply your eye makeup.
The instructions above for the smokey eye is perfect for all eye shapes except the hooded eye – which most people have, especially those of us over 40. Here Wayne Goss explains how to achieve the smokey eye so you look sultry instead looking like you lost a fight.
Step 6: Eyeliner
There are 9 different eyeliner techniques shown above so get creative and find a new look or change your look by how you feel each day.
Here’s Julia Graf with step by step instructions on how to achieve each of the eyeliner looks shown and a few extra too.
Have Hooded Eyes?
If you have hooded eyes wearing eyeliner can make your eyes look smaller. Here’s Wayne Goss with a very cool trick to adding eyeliner tight to your lashline.
Step 7: Mascara
I HATED mascara with the clumping, the racoon eyes, all the fussing with the wand. I didn’t wear any mascara for years. Then I saw this tip from Wayne Goss and it changed my thinking. Again, so awesome.

Step 8: Lips
Want fuller looking lips? Here’s a quick tip using your contouring makeup that’s simply amazing.
Step 9: Nails
