Show your funny side by hosting an April Fools Day party filled with the classic pranks. It’s a lost art, and you’re bringing funny back!
A Day of Good Old-fashioned Pranks
Let’s set them up right from the first moment they arrive. . .
There’s a Wet Cement sign in our April Fools Day Printable Package.
We got our orange pilons from the Dollar Store. They’re a little smaller than a traffic cone but they get the job done for less.
Now why would you want your guests to park on the street? So you can prank them with a fake parking ticket of course!
Each one has a $100 fine and is blaze orange in color.
After everyone has arrived put one under the windshield wiper of all the cars that are parked on the street.
Package of 10 for $5.95 from Amazon.
Can’t use the fake ticket idea? Here are some other fun ways to prank their cars:
This classic joke is the perfect way to end the day. $1.95 at Century Novelty

Put it right over the doorbell to make it even more difficult!
We have a wet paint caution sign in our April Fools Day printable package for you.
Act really surprised to see them.
Make the foyer messy so its even more believable.
Then tell them that they’ve got the wrong day for the party. . . and watch them sweat. Or laugh.
Shake their hand and use the oldest prank of all time just to let them know what they’re in for!
Welcome Your Guests
We have a sheet with Hello My Name Is tags in our April Fools Day Printable Package. Just print them out on adhesive paper, cut them out, and write the name on. Make sure you have a garbage can nearby for the adhesive backing.
Think of some funny but subtle things people can do while they meet each other at the beginning of the party and write them down on separate pieces of paper. Tape one as a sign on each person’s back when they arrive.
The goal is to do what the sign says when talking to that person without being obvious, all the while trying to figure out what your sign says by how everyone is treating you.
After everyone has arrived and is settled, call them one by one to stand in front of the group and see if they can correctly guess what their sign says. Have a simple prize for each person who guesses right.
Here are some ideas:
- Play with your hair when you talk to me.
- Wink at me whenever I say the word “___”.
- Stare at my ear when we’re talking.
- Begin every sentence with the word “well…”
- Snap your fingers a couple of times when we talk.
- Cough into your hand at least twice while I’m talking.
- Subtly suggest that you think I’ve been drinking.
- Tell me I’m cute.
April Fools Day Decorations
For April Fools Day you don’t need streamers and colorful decorations. Why not TP the party room instead!
Believe me, the kids will never forget the day their family TP’d the living room or dining room. Never.
This makes a great icebreaker too – give each guest a roll of toilet paper and let them TP the party room!
When we did our dining room, we attached two cords across the room so the toilet paper would have something to hang on and to keep it up at the height where it wouldn’t be in the way. From there just go to town wrapping tissue in the lights, picture frames and windows, draping it over the cords.
