We share ideas that create happy family memories.
We know that:
- some years families face limited funds
- other times you may have a to-do list longer than you have hours in the day
- there are times when you’re too ill or exhausted to put as much into your party or homemaking as you’d like
- there are special occasions when you want to have the ultimate party or family celebration
Hey – we’ve been there too!
That’s why we share:
- cheap party ideas and freebies for the budget conscious
- fast and easy party tips for when you’re short on time and energy
- crazy ideas for when you’re ready to go BIG
- homemaking ideas to make gardening, housekeeping, crafting & cooking short and sweet
Just pick and choose what works for you in your situation.
Sometimes its difficult juggling all the balls of being mother, wife, cook, housekeeper, career woman – not to mention any hobbies and special interests of our own we try to squeeze into our day. Wouldn’t it be nice if kids could just go play quietly for an hour so you could get something done? How often does that really happen . . . left to their own devices, kids can get into soooo much trouble and we end up spending the day saying “don’t do that”.
My two older kids locked their little brother in a trunk once. And then one winter they decided to go cross country skiing – unfortunately there were only two pairs of skis so they talked their little brother into using hockey sticks instead, which didn’t work too well in deep snow. (It’s tough being the baby of the family.) My sister-in-law said our bathroom was “big enough to swing a cat” so my middle son decided to test it out. (Yes, it is big enough.)
I know from experience that themed playdays keep kids entertained and help them bond with one another. When my kids were little I tried to make every day an adventure, a time to learn something new, a time to spend with their siblings. I’d like to help moms do the same thing by providing ideas, printables, and suggestions for getting things free whenever possible so it all fits in the budget.
We share our party plans, themed playdays & vacation ideas – past, present and future.
Whenever we get together we spend our time laughing about all the crazy things we’ve done.
As you can see in the picture to the right, we’re still doing crazy things. And the kids are doing them together, just them. Here’s a photo of the three of them on a Florida vacation together, spending the day as Harry Potter’s friends at Universal Studios.
When kids bond, they are each other’s friend for life which warms my heart.
I love pulling up to the house to see a cute flower garden and yard decorations. I’m proud to serve vegetables from my own little garden. Piles of stuff – as well as those dust bunnies – drive me crazy so find a real serenity when my house is clean and organized. I admit it; I’m a laundry fanatic. But I don’t want to spend every spare minute working hard to have those things.
Remember this woman:
That’s me. I love to cook, but I love my time in the kitchen to be quick & easy.
If there’s a short cut that gives the same results as the Martha Stewart route, I’m taking it.
I’m not shy about using mixes as a base for cakes – the cake always turns out and I add my own touch to it so I get the same enjoyment as baking from scratch. (And the family gets the same enjoyment from eating it!)
If I can find time savers so I don’t have to spend all my time cleaning, bring them on. If there’s a product that works like a charm, I want it.
I glean information from the pros who know so I save time & energy by doing things right the first time instead of just muddling through it because I feel rushed. Women know the power of taking time to read the instructions!
If I can make a no-sew something in minutes that looks great, I’ll do it. It’s the enjoyment and the quality of the end product that’s important to me; but my real passion is time with my family and friends.
If you share the same philosophy on homemaking and family, I hope you find information and inspiration here at The Passionate Homemaker to be all you can be – the quick, easy way.
